Saskatchewan walks on sunshine

We know, it's been five days. Time to get over it. This is the last time we'll broach the subject...promise. But in honour of Danny Barrett, we bring you some excellent footage of Saturday's half-time show in Regina.

I've still yet to hear a single football player, past or present, that had a problem with that hit.

Lots of outrage from people who have never played the game, but not a single negative comment from a football player. Robert Baker even went so far as to say that if a guy wasn't willing to deliver that hit, he didn't want him on his team.

Gene Mack on off the Record said "When he made that hit, I had an orgasm!" Johnny Scott said "Why don't we put the quartebacks in pink jerseys and put a flag around their waist?"

It's unfortunate that his helmet came off, and he got knocked out of the game, but that hit was no more violent than the Jackie Mitchell hit on Dave Dickenson - Spergon just happened to be moving the wrong way at the wrong time, and his helmet came off too.

Quit yer bellyachin'. You won. Now you think your boatmen should be able to coordinate all half-time affairs at away games around their actions too? He got his bell rung. It made for a good replay. But Spergon Lose obviously wasn't in any serious danger.

And not like the same wouldn't have happened at the Rogers Centre (By the way, bad move on the name change. Why not the Rogers Skydome? Rogers Centre sounds like the little kiosk in the mall where you can look at the new phones.)

hey trailer park roughie, what you dont realize was that the hit was illegal, malicious, vicious, and reckless. Also the hit on crouch was intent to injure and maim, both hits were very dirty and have no place in the cfl.

So in other words Lou, you do think the QB's should wear pink sweaters with a flag around their waist? Thanks for the comment.

agree that 'rogers centre' is a crap name. after all the handwringing, pomp, and ceremony that went into naming the new dome stadium in toronto back in the late 1980s, to suddenly switch it to something that sounds like a place where you order bundled cable services seems a little careless. someone in the to media recently jokingly referred to the dome/rc as 'the bundle' but i doubt/hope this does not catch on.

that aside, i'm pretty sure a helmet on helmet hit is illegal. the replays seem to indicate that this is what happened and indeed the league seems to think it's worthy of a fine. so perhaps a little bitching, in light of the fact that some insult was added to the injury by the halftime entertainment, is in order.

as to phenomenom of instant orgasm at the sight of a football tackle, i'll leave that to gene mack's psychoanalyst.

the CFL should do a good job to protect the QBs, because the cfl is a QB league, and you cant win a ballgame without a good QB. If the CFL wants to be a legit and respected league, then they gotta protect the QBs. The riders are a dirty team full of thugs, look at KK he is a thug that starts barfights, riders fans are all trailer park banjo pickers, and their players are all wannabe thug and are the CFLs version of the bengals.
