... And we're back

After taking a few months off to recharge our batteries and question a higher power that would allow the Riders to win a Grey Cup (we're only now over it), we're back and ready to continue our efforts to bring about the end of civilization.

As we start our third year of this endeavour, we promise that we will continue to search for the lighter side of the most enjoyable league in the country and that we will continue to have an unhealthy fascination with Pinball Clemons and stadium scoreboard races.

Matt_Dunnigan_001.gifIn the weeks leading up to the season, we will be rolling out of team previews to help you get caught up on all of the changes made in the offseson.  The departures of Kent Austin and Scott Coe, the re-emergence of Roy Shivers, the big Ronald Flemons trade.... wait a minute...
Is that a Matt Dunigan cooking show

It's going to be a good year.

So, like, what are you guys going to do for comic relief now that Frank D'Angelo is out of the picture?

You mean who are we going to put out of business next by some crude photoshopping? (We know that it wasn't the complete lack of viable marketing, logistics, and operations plans that took the original Steelback out.)

Honestly, the thing with Frank is that, much like a B horror movie villian, I'm not going to be convinced he's gone without some evidence.

To the best of my knowledge, he still owns Forget About It (I'm not putting that damn exclamation point in) meaning that even if he owes the team some money there is still a chance that he'll be involved somehow.

Also, if the Tom Wright era is remembered for anything, it should at least be that they smelled Steelback/D'Angelo's bullshit a mile away. Fifteen years ago that group would have been given a franchise that would have surpassed the Horn Chen and Glieberman regimes in ineptitude.

Personally, I'm just relieved to know we'll still have the opportunity to toast the new season with a bottle of cold, refreshing Steelback.

Rusty: You're right. Folks might not give Tom Wright credit for much, but he knew a bad thing when he saw one. I have a buddy who plays hockey against him and apparently he has an ego the size of his goalie pads (and his D apparently lets him get shelled on a regular basis).

A-Rad: I never had any while ol' Pie Eyes was running the show, but I'm curious enough now to check out the slimmed down offerings.
